Staying safe on a cruise

Even in the best cruise lines, there are always going
to be people on board whose intentions are less than
honorable.

To help you keep from becoming a victim, and to help
you stay safe on the cruise in general, follow these
simple guidelines:

1. Attend lifeboat drills

One of the first things that will happen on the cruise
ship is a lifeboat drill. Dont be concerned; there
will be enough for everyone on board. At the lifeboat
drill, you will be told what to do in the unlikely
event that you must evacuate the ship.

2. Be aware of those around you

Keep an eye on your drink, and dont leave it
unattended. It will only take a moment for someone to
slip something into it. Its also not a good idea to
accept a drink from someone that you dont know, no
matter how nice they may seem.

3. Dont have an open door policy

Dont open the door of your cabin to anyone unless you
can verify that they are who they say they are. Know
your cabins steward, and if you feel uncomfortable
opening the door go with your instinct. Its better to
be wrong and safe than to worry about insulting
someone.

Remember, except for those in your party you are
traveling with strangers, so be aware of your
surroundings and take precautions. If you suspect
something suspicious, its better to err on the side
of caution. Its better to be safe and embarrassed
than to be foolish and injured or worse.

All Caribbean cruise destinations offer the same types
of things, right? Wrong!

If you know what you want in your Caribbean cruise,
you can use this guide to help you choose the perfect
destination for your Caribbean cruise.

Its important that you know what different parts of
the Caribbean have to offer, and what you will find if
you take a cruise there.

Eastern Caribbean

- This is a great destination for those cruisers who
enjoy shopping. The eastern Caribbean includes ports
like St. Thomas and St. Martin, and they offer a
plethora of shops and boutiques.

Western Caribbean

- If you are looking for adventure, this is the place
to go. You can go to places that are less traveled,
and trek through jungles or explore other cultures.
These ports include places like Honduras and Belize.

Mexican cruises

- If you enjoy the party life, this is the type of
cruise for you. They are also perfect for those who
would enjoy exploring the ruins of the Maya.

Southern Caribbean

- Want to hit the beach and get a tan? The beautiful
beaches of Barbados and Aruba are waiting for you.
Sun, sand, and a golden tan is what you will come away
with when you go to the southern Caribbean.

Everyone has something different in mind when they are
thinking of taking a cruise, so take into
consideration your partys interests.

Think about the different places in the Caribbean and
what they have to offer. Once you have consulted with
all the members of your traveling party, you can
choose a destination that everyone is going to enjoy.

After you have decided to go on a cruise, the next
thing that you will want to do is to choose a cruise
ship. There are several ways that you can do this to
make certain that you choose the ship that is right
for you.

Talk to friends and family

Talk to people that you know who have gone on cruises
and find out what their experiences were with the
cruise ship they chose. This is one of the best ways
to find out what their level of service, because they
are going to give you their honest opinions.

Use the Internet

Another good way to compare different cruise ships is
to go on the Internet and read about the experiences
that other people have had. Dont discount a cruise
ship because of one bad experience but read all of the
comments to see if the negative experience was
isolated.

Talk to travel agents

When you have a couple of cruise ships that you think
you might want to choose from, go and talk to a travel
agent. But this should be your last step, because
travel agents arent unbiased in their opinions.

Its always a good idea to do some research before you
choose a cruise ship. That way, you will know what you
are getting into, and there wont be any surprises
when you are on your vacation. An informed traveler is
a happy traveler, because they know that they made the
decision that was right for them.

One of the things that people hear the most about
cruising is all of the food that you can eat while you
are on board.

For some, this is a dream come true. But for others,
its something that concerns them and makes them think
twice about going on a cruise, because they are afraid
that they are going to gain a lot of weight.

There are a few things that you can do while you are
on a cruise to stop yourself from gaining a lot of
weight.

1. Watch what you eat

Just because there a lot of things that are offered,
it doesnt mean that you have to eat it all. Look over
the selections and see what it is that you want to try
the most at a buffet, and make certain to stock up on
vegetables and fruits.

2. Watch what you drink

Remember, drinks have calories as well and they can
add up very quickly. Drink a lot of club soda, water,
or unsweetened iced tea as opposed to alcoholic drinks
and sodas.

3. Take a walk

Most cruise ships have some type of exercise facility,
so take advantage of them. If you arent someone who
really likes to lift weights, walk around the ship,
and when it docks go ashore. This will help burn off
the calories that you take in.

If you follow the above tips, you will enjoy your
cruise and enjoy coming home as well since you wont
gain as much weight as you dread.
